We've been enjoying summer! Daddy, who used to make pizza for a living in his much younger days, decided it was time to make it with the kids! They had so much fun! Can't you tell?
We hope you are enjoying your summer, too!

robots, lunch and lego chess

Goose pulled out a box of wooden craft pieces and started making robots. And, of course, Binky had to make some, too! These are his robots! The one on the right is a bunny rabbit robot, in case you were wondering!

Goose made these three. My favorite is the one on the left. What is he staring at? They will be painted tomorrow!

Lunch! I sometimes think the kids are getting too old for this sort of thing. But I think I still have another year or so! Yeah!

They will never be too old for homemade popsicles! Goose prefers lemonade and Binky likes smoothy pops. He calls them smopcicles!

And I bet you didn't know that lego characters play chess! Well they do! And are quite good at it, too! Binky and I have been playing chess for a couple of days in a row now. He saw his legos sitting on the table and decided to use them for chess pieces. His was the knight and mine was a pawn. This gave me a great idea for making a homemade chess set out of legos!!!!!!!!!! But don't tell Binky!!

Goose and I made felted wishing stones today! We were inspired by The Magic Onions. We are going to try felted soap next!

We also made some sun prints with doilies!

This is Beyesera. She is a faerie who rides a beautiful horse named Beyosongaya. And she loves acorn caps!

This is where Beyesera likes to play with her friends!

And this is Easter the gnome! She lives in a watermelon! A lucky gnome, indeed!

We had a great day! We started at the library where we picked up Robin Hood, some new comic books and a lot of books about cats! All kinds of cats! From tigers to lions and cheetahs. Binky said he wants to learn about every kind of cat in the world! From there we stopped for a scoop of ice cream. We found a new shop where scoops are one dollar each! I know, unheard of, right? After running some more errands we headed home and had some fun creating and playing. And when Daddy got home we went out for tacos! And, yes, more ice cream! It is summer, you know!
Tonight we are hoping to catch the Perseid Meteor shower! We weren't able to see it last night because of all the fog. We are going to get up really early, 3am, and head up into the hills to get above the city lights. The kids are so funny! They tried to go to bed in the clothes they are going to wear when we get up to see the meteors! It's a warm night so sweatshirts and sweatpants aren't going to be very comfortable. They do not see my logic! But I'm getting used to that!

look what came in the mail

This is the felty fawn I won from Lisa at 5 Orange Potatoes!
Isn't she cute!

Sweet Lisa also made a coneflower for Goose!
It really is pretty!

And a bat for Binky!
He insisted on wearing his the moment he saw it!

Thank you, thank you Lisa!
And thank you Fauna and Araina for the goblin teeth! ; )

Sunday Night Scrabble

Tonight was warm and beautiful so we played Scrabble outside by candle light. Binky didn't want to play so he helped by handing out letters. We each used all of our letters! Daddy won!
Now the kids are in bed and Daddy and I are relaxing with some tea and good books!
With summer going by so fast, I really want to enjoy each and every moment!
I always make a list of things I want to do and then I suddenly realize that summer is almost over and I haven't done all things I said I would. What's on your list of things to do before summer ends?

Lords of the Samurai

It was the final day of summer camp with our dojo and we spent the day here!
We were surrounded by the most beautiful Samurai armor! I could not take pictures but you can see some of them here. These are just some of the many photos I took today! The most fun was had in a room where kimonos could be worn and GO could be played. There was even a Kendo, which means "way of the sword," demonstration. Very cool!
I love museum visits!!
Have a great weekend!

blueberry pie

Last night Goose and I made blueberry pie!!!

We set it on the window sill to cool... and admire!

Blueberry pie a la mode is, I have to say, my new favorite dessert!

Scratch was waiting patiently for his share!
We have some blackberries in our backyard that are nearly ready for picking.
I was thinking about making some blackberry tartlets this weekend!
What do you do with fresh-picked berries, besides pop 'em into your mouth?
