"How To Train Your Dragon" review

This was a cute movie!
Goose and Binky really enjoyed it.
It might be a little scary for younger kids, but "Toothless" the dragon is adorable!
Binky wanted him for a pet!
We did not see it in 3D, though.
We really don't enjoy it. I always get a headache!
I do wish the "mean" dragon didn't have to die.
But it is Hollywood.
So...
2 thumbs up from Goose and Binky!!
And one from me!

spring has sprung

Spring is here and we've been decorating the house with paper flowers!

Spending time outside is the best part!

And riding your dirtboard!
Yes, that's me watching from the top of the hill!
We've had some warm, sunny days and cold, rainy days here by the bay.
Today we are heading to the movies to see "How To Train Your Dragon."
I had to convince Binky to go. He said "the animation didn't look very good in this movie."
I had no idea he was such a critic!
I'll let you know if he gives it a thumbs up or not.
Happy weekend!

St. Patrick's Day

Goose and I sent out some of these adorable cards with a printable from this beautiful blog!
They are so sweet!
Tomorrow we have some classes in the morning and then we are going on a green hunt with our cameras.
If we're lucky, we might see some leprechauns!
Then it's home for cupcakes and limericks.
This is what we did last year!
Have a great Wednesday!!

5 Orange Potatoes Etsy Shop

Look who surprised Goose the other day!!
Mama Hootenany!
Hoot hoot!
Could she be any cuter or wiser?
I think not!
I surprised Goose with one of Lisa's adorable creations because she has been studying owls!
And because I just couldn't resist!
I have been anxiously awaiting this etsy shop for some time now!
So to celebrate, I have put a link in my sidebar to the 5orangepotatoes etsy shop.
Please check it out!

2010 Iditarod

In keeping with Binky's study of dogs, we have been following the Iditarod this year.
If you don't know anything about the Iditarod you need to check out this website!
You can keep up with the latest standings and mushers. The first place musher is expected to come in at some point today. Binky has been following 3 mushers on a tracking form I found on the teacher page. One of them, Newton Marshall, is representing Jamaica!
You must also check out the blog page for some cool photos of the sledders and dogs! These are some AMAZING animals! And they look like they are having the time of their lives, even when they are covered in snow!
This has been a great lesson with geography, math, science, social studies and more!
We are now official fans of the Iditarod!!

bow and arrow

While Goose was at a party, we took Binky to the local archery range.
We surprised him with a new bow and arrows! We were saving them for his birthday in May, but since we were going to the range, it seemed a good time to give them to him.

He spends a lot of time in the backyard practicing.
So this awesome shot came as no surprise!

There were several kids there. And, after practicing on these targets, Daddy and Binky
headed to the target course. I can see us spending a lot of time here this spring and summer!
I think I might want my own bow!

burrowing owls

These adorable little owls have been living at a local park for the winter.
I heard from a friend they were around until early April so the kids and I headed to the park as soon as we could! And we were not disappointed! There are three living in abandoned ground squirrel burrows. We were only able to find two of them. The park has fenced off the area around the burrows to keep dogs and people away. But you can still get up close and personal with the owls. And, since Goose has been studying owls, we were so excited to see them in their natural habitat. Goose named one "Bright Eyes" and Binky named the other "Nick."
I know we will be back for as many visits as we can before they leave.
I could watch them all day!

Binky and I spent most of Sunday together. I brought out some paints for him while I cleaned the backyard. He was so serious while he painted. I love how it turned out!

A friend gave us this great marble run the other day and Binky has been playing with it ever since! And in the spirit of the Olympics, we held our own Marble Olympics!
Binky really got into the Olympics. He wants to be an olympic snowboarder at the moment!
We also did some archery in the backyard. Binky was showing me how to do it right!!
He loves his bow and arrow!
I love spending one on one time with the kids. I know they do, too!
